Free Senior Health Fairto be held in Mid-Valley Free health screenings, refreshments available Feb. 19 at Knapp Conference Center Mid-Valley residents are invited to a free “Seniors Health Fair” Tuesday morning, February 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the KMC Conference Center (on the west side of the Knapp Medical Center campus, 1401 E. 8th Street in Weslaco).

The event will include free health screenings, information on local health services, give-away items, refreshments, and door prize drawings – including gift certificates to local restaurants.

With February being National Heart Month, the Senior Health Fair will seek to help address two of the most important health conditions affecting the Valley and senior population in general – high blood pressure and diabetes.

“It is very important for people to ‘know their numbers’ as far as blood pressure and blood sugar,” added Pat Wagman, RN, Stroke Coordinator for Knapp Medical Center.

“It is also very important for those with high blood pressure to follow their doctors’ recommendations for diet, exercise, and medication,” Mr. Wagman added.

The Senior Health Fair event is also being hosted in conjunction with Knapp Medical Center’s 57th anniversary of serving the healthcare needs of the Mid-Valley community, as the hospital opened in January, 1962.  For information on various services offered at the award-winning hospital, please visit www.KnappMed.org or www.FaceBook.com/KnappMedicalCenter/.
