Blood Drive to be held in Mid-Valley

Mid-Valley residents are invited to help give the “gift of life” during a blood drive which will be held in Weslaco on Thursday, August 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Knapp Medical Center, 1401 E. 8th Street (in “Conference Room C” on the first floor of the hospital).

The blood drive is open to the public — and all donors will receive a $10 HEB gift card.

Blood donations help young patients in South Texas such as a 7-year-old boy who has leukemia.   This child benefits from blood and platelet transfusion — thanks to generous blood donors.

South Texas Blood & Tissue Center reminds all potential blood donors that they must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, eat before making a donation, and provide proper identification at the time of registration. (Donors may be 16 years old if they weigh at least 120 pounds and have a parental consent form.)

For more information about the blood drive, or to make an appointment to donate blood on August 1, please contact Michael Swartz at 956-973-5142, or at mswartz@PrimeHealthCare.com.  Donors may also register online, at http://bit.ly/30AOmPG.
