Mercedes police chief Dagoberto “Dago” Chavez standing with Mayor Henry Hinojosa after being sworn into office at city hall  during a recent city meeting. Chavez was originally hired as assistant city manager  several months ago, and will continue his role as assistant city manager as he takes on the city’s public safety department’s duties.
