Katelynn Garza is a 15 year old sophomore from Mercedes High School who holds the title of Miss Stars and Stripes.  Amber Perez is a graduate of Mercedes High School and holds the title of Miss RGV Majesty. The two Mercedes young ladies partnered together to raise money to give back to the community. By selling chocolate covered marshmallow and accepting donations, Katelynn and Amber were able to raise enough money buy school supplies to donate to students in the Mercedes communities. In fact, they were able to hand out 54 bags stuffed with folders, notebooks, markers, crayons and pencils.  The two title holders said that they just wanted to do their part to help students in the community start school prepared to learn.
