Salinas earns Eagle Scout rank
EAGLE SCOUT HONORED
Roel Diego Salinas, Jr. 18 , son of Roel and Denise Salinas of McAllen has achieved the Boy Scouts’ highest rank of Eagle Scout. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 40, chartered by Holy Spirit Catholic Church of McAllen, Roel earned 33 merit badges.
To earn the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle project. For his project, Roel organized a beautification project of a welcoming garden at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen where he was recently honored as one of three Eagle Scouts from the same unit at a Court of Honor ceremony on January 12, 2020.
Roel is a graduate of Nikki Rowe High School Class of 2019 in McAllen and is currently attending South Texas College to complete his basics towards pursuing a degree in Psychology at UTRGV.
Roel is the grandson of Juanita Anzaldua and the late Antonio Anzaldua, Jr. of Mercedes. He is also the grandson of the late Jesus M.Salinas, Jr and Irma Salinas (both deceased) of Mercedes.
