Mercedes Knights of Columbus Track and Field Invitational results

The Mercedes High school hosted its 40th annual Mercedes Knights of Columbus Track and Field Invitational and more than 20 teams were there to compete in the event.
The meet was held March 6, at Tiger Stadium.
“The competition was great,” Mercedes track head coach Pete Martinez said. “Our runners ran very well against the competition and it will prepare them for the rest of the season.”
Many Tigers athletes who participated in the track meet set personal records.
Mika Vento set a season record with a speed of 17:33 in the 100 meter hurdles.
Lupe Reyes finished fourth in the 3200 meter relay with a time of 9:49:50. Reyes also finished fourth in the 1600 meter relay with a speed of 4:31.69. His teammate Isaiah Hernandez set a personal record with a speed of 4:50.67 in the 1600 meter relay.
Kassidie Rodriguez set a personal record with a leap of 16-00.05 in the long jump good enough for a second place finish.
Angelique Rangel set a personal record in the triple jump with 32-03.00 effort.
The girls 4×100 relay team finished sixth with a time of 53:08 led by Angelique Rangel, Anahi Galindo, Katie Flores and Kassidie Rodriguez.
The girls 4×200 relay team finished fifth with a time 1:53.69 led by Malaya Vallejo, Katie Flores, Anahi Galindo and Riley Castaneda.
In the boys 4×400 relay Josiah Cantu, Julian Fuentes, Jordan Gonzalez and Lupe Reyes finished 9th with a time of 3:37.92.
The girls 4×400 relay team finished seventh with a time of 4:35:13 led by Riley Castaneda, Riley Lara, Kassadie Rodriguez and Valeria Zamarripa.
Joseph Carr finished 4th in the 12 shot put 43-08.00
Ramiro Ortiz set a season record in the high jump and finished 6th with a jump of 5-08
Lynette Villarreal finished ninth in the 1kg discus with an effort of 108-02
