J. A. Garcia American Legion Post 172 April 15, 2020, Post update

On behalf of the JA Garcia American Legion Post 172 Family in Mercedes, TX, we would like to send our prayers. May all of our Membership and members of the Community come out healthy and well during this trying times.

As you all are aware, we are still under lockdown and there has been no change. “We are all in this Together” — we keep hearing this phrase. As previous members of the Armed Services and current Veterans, we have always faced challenges together and we will face this threat as such and we will come out just fine.  Keep faith and may you and your loved ones find yourself in good health. Let us continue to stay updated on the latest in reference to the Virus. Let us adhere to the latest updates, restrictions, and guidance that is provided by our Federal, State and Local Officials and experts on the matter. New guidance includes the wearing of face masks in public. The date for social distancing has been extended to April 30th, 2020. We will keep you updated.

All events for our American Legion Post are presently still on hold until further notice. There has been no activity taking place. All events are suspended until we receive different guidance.

As the Commander, I have forwarded all correspondence and bulletins that we receive from our higher headquarters. We will keep you posted on any developments that we receive from our District, Division, or Department.

The 15th District Convention that was to be held at our Post in April is still on hold and has been postponed. We will announce a new date at a later date.

Let us stay in contact as much as possible.
