Mercedes City Commissioner Jose Gomez stood in his upholstery shop ready to work, but on that particular day he didn’t start any of his regular projects he began working on making masks to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

“I have been making masks for residents and especially the elderly,” Gomez said. “I’m doing this on my own. People can call me and I’ll make them a mask.”

Gomez is asking for a donation of $20 for velcro wrap around masks, and $7.50 for over the ear strap masks.
