Mercedes PD police with eye in the sky
Mercedes Police Chief Dago Chavez quickly placed a video surveillance tower at H-E-B in an effort to increase safety in the community as a coronavirus pandemic safety measure in early March.
The specialized tower goes up to 35 feet high and can be placed across strategic locations in the city of Mercedes to help curb crime.
The police department received the tower through the Operation Stone Garden federal grant recently.
The tower was set up after police recieved calls about people allegedly trying to break into stores in an attempt to get food and other basic necessities.
