Winter Texan welcome back bash slated
Welcome Back Winter Texan Reception Scheduled December 1st
The Mercedes Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Annual Welcome Back Winter Texan Reception on Wednesday, December 1st. The event is scheduled to take place at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Youth Center starting at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This event has been hosted by the Chamber for over 30 continuous years and has become a huge opportunity for the area business people to thank and welcome back our Winter Texans to our area. We will hand out door prizes and goody bags along with snacks and entertainment. We invite you to participate in this very successful and entertaining evening.
We hand out about 200 goody bags and ask for your assistance as businesses by providing the items to be included in the bags. This may include advertisement items, such as pens, pencils, magnets, discount flyers, etc. anything that has your business name and address on the item. Items to be included should be in quantities of 200 and turned into the Chamber Office at 320 S. Ohio by November 29th at 5 p.m. Items for door prizes are also needed. We hope you will be a part of this event to Welcome Back our Winter Texans.
The Chamber also holds a Queen Bean Contest at this event. So whose beans are the best? Cooking teams must turn in 3lbs of Hot (maybe spicy, maybe not) December 1st by 3:30 pm at the RGVLS Youth Center. Beans need to be cooked off site. You must pre-register at the Mercedes Chamber Office by November 29th. Just call 956-565-2221. First place receives $50, a trophy and bragging rights, Second Place receives $25.
