JROTC Competes in Raider Competition, obstacle course

Mercedes JROTC recently competed in a Raider competition conducted at La Copa Ranch, Texas. Raider team members requires physical strength and endurance.
The competitions consist of military style training obstacles and other physical team events. Mercedes JROTC competed in the male and mixed team category. Cadets practiced their leadership skills and teamwork while maneuvering through each obstacle.
Most importantly, the competition tested their physical and mental strength. Cadet Second Lieutenant Lizandro Castillo is the JROTC Raider Commander and has been preparing and leading the team this year.
JROTC is a character and leadership development course for students. The mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens. The Senior Army Instructor, Major (R) Rachel Danielson reflected on the competition; “the teams had a great time competing and testing their physical and mental strength while working as a team. This was a great experience for them.”
