MERCEDES– The Mercedes Enterprise caught up with Junior Point Guard Joaquin Gonzales to ask him about the basketball season and his game. Here’s what he had to say in the Meet the Tigers Q&A:
Q: When did you first know you loved to play basketball?
A:I began to play basketball when I was 6-years-old and have loved it since!
Q: Who do you model your basketball game from? A: Michael Jordan
Q: What is your signature basketball move? A: The spin move
Q: What do you do to get ready for game time?
A: Pray and focus.
Q: Who has helped you get to the level you are at in basketball?<span;> A: God, family, supportive coaches/teachers and trainers!
Q: What does it mean to you to be on the varsity team? A: It means a lot and I’m really blessed. Grateful to all my coaches for believing in me and my ability to play at the varsity level since my freshman year.
Q: What is your main goal for the basketball season? A: Continue to work hard as a team, make playoffs and be district champs!
Q: What is your favorite memory as a basketball player on the varsity? A: Making District playoffs in 9th grade and selected 32-5A 1st Team All District and Varsity Tigers Defensive MVP of the Year as a sophomore.
Q: What is one of your goals for after high school? A: Be the best I can be whether it’s playing at the next level in college or working.
Q: What is your dream school/university? A: Duke University
