$50 “Heart Saver” CT Scan Available in Mid-Valley
Special to The Enterprise
February is National Heart Month, and Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco is offering a “Heart Saver” CT scan for a special cash price of $50 for Mid-Valley residents and Winter Texans who would like to determine if they may be at risk for heart disease.
The “HeartSaver” is a CT scan which can indicate calcium or plaque build-up in the coronary arteries. If the patient is at risk for heart disease, they are encouraged to work with their physician on taking steps to reduce the risk, such as healthy eating, exercise as recommended by their doctor, making other lifestyle changes to benefit their health, and taking medication if necessary to control cholesterol and / or high blood pressure.
The HeartSaver CT Scan can help disclose heart disease at various stages, making it easier for the physician to treat the disease. The special 64-slice system at Knapp Medical Center helps in “seeing” the arteries and build-ups that could potentially block blood flow going to the heart.
Knapp Medical Center is taking all necessary precautions so patients can safely receive these important screenings. Mid-Valley patients are encouraged to work with their doctor during National Heart Month and throughout the year on ways to avoid potentially life-threatening heart attacks and stroke.
For patients who need to see a specialist, several cardiologists are now seeing patients in Weslaco, at the South Heart Clinic’s Weslaco office at 902 S. Airport Drive, Suite 5B. These cardiologists include Dr. Juan Garza, Dr. Danielle Stone, Dr. Michael Balderas, Dr. Mohammad Alasaad, Dr. Hugo Blake, Dr. Michael Evans, Dr. Eduardo Flores, Dr. Shereef Hilmy, and Dr. David Yardley.
