Mercedes American Legion J.A. Garcia Post 172 will be hosting their annual Vietnam Veterans Day event on  Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 at 9:00 AM The Legionaries have a  Vietnam War Veterans Day Ceremony planned to honor and recognize all Veterans.  “On this designated day is to Welcome Back our Vietnam Veterans back home,” said Juan Moya, American Legion Commander.  “Our Biggest group of members of our American Legion Post 172 are the Vietnam Veterans, however our ranks are thinning and we have Mercedes Veterans that served during that conflict and distinguished themselves.”

 There will be a Flag Raising Ceremony, a Final Roll Call of the 16 Mercedes Warriors who lost their lives during that War and a rendition of Taps.  Remarks by City Officials and guests are also on the morning agenda, and a breakfast reception at the Legion Hall will be hosted at the Legionaries  following the flag rasing ceremoney.

 The event is open to the Public.
