The Mercedes Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mercedes Enterprise Newspaper held its annual Meet the Candidates Forum recently.

Heading into the early voting on Monday, voters were able to hear what the candidates had to say about their leadership, the town’s issues, and what they can do for the City.

Mercedes City Commissioner Candidates for Place Two and Place Four met at the Mercedes Civic Center located at H-E-B Park for a discussion about  their bid for city commission, the issues affecting the city and to take questions from the community.

Mercedes Enterprise Publisher Dr. Barbara Hinojosa moderated the forum. 

City Commissioner Place Two incumbent Leonel Benavidez is challenged by longtime resident and community activist Armando Garcia.

City Commission Place Four incumbent Jose Gomez is challenged by Mercedes residents, Dr. Ruben Saldana and Jovana Trevino-Garcia.
