Q&A with RGVLS participant Gabriel Picazo, Santa Maria High School, 9th
The Mercedes Enterprise caught up with a number of RGVLS participant Gabriel Picazo heading to the competition to show off his work with his animal. Here is what he had to say:
Q:What club are you a member of?
A: Santa Maria FFA
Q:What will you be presenting at RGVLS?
A: Market hog
Q:What is your animal’s name and breed?
A: Bacon – York
Q:Why do you like presenting at RGVLS?
A: Spending time with family and friends.
Q:Tell us about your first time presenting at RGVLS?
A: The first time I presented here I was so nervous but I enjoyed making new friends.
Q:What is your best memory of RGVLS over the years?
A: Making the sale if champions last year with my duroc
Q:Have you been successful at RGVLS before, or what is your goal for this year’s competition?
A: Last year I placed 3rd place with my market duroc and today i placed 3rd with my York.
Q:What is it like for you when you lead your animal or show your project in front of the judges?
A: I feel pressure but at the same time I trust my hog because of all the work we’ve put in together.
Q:What preparation did you put or work on with your animal or project to get ready for RGVLS?
A: Spend time with my hog and earn her trust so she can perform in the show ring. Also putting in hours of walking and training her to walk.
