The Mercedes Enterprise caught up with a number of RGVLS participant Ava Serna heading to the competition to show off her work with his animal. Here is what she had to say:

Q: What club are you a member of?

A: Harlingen high school, FFA.

Q: What will you be presenting at RGVLS?

A: Registered and a commercial heifer.

Q: What is your animal’s name?

A: My beefmasters name is Tallulah, the commercial heifers name is Pearl.

Q: What is your animal’s breed?

A: Beefmaster and beefmaster/Brahman cross. 

Q: What do you like most about RGVLS?

A: I like the environment which brings me memories. 

Q: Tell us your favorite memory presenting at RGVLS?

A: My favorite memory by far would have to be spending these long hard weeks with my family and having their support throughout my years.

Q: Who or what encouraged you to join FFA and compete at RGVLS?

A: My Aunt Victoria Trevino encouraged me because she had been showing since she was in 3rd grade.

Q: What is your goal at RGVLS competition this year?

A: My goal is to try and place good with my animals and just have fun.

 with my last year showing.

Q: What is it like for you when you when you come to participate at RGVLS?

A: I enjoy it every year with my family and friends and just make the most of the weeks.

Q: What would be your best advice to someone who wants compete at RGVLS?

A: It takes a lot of work, commitment, responsibility, and time but in the end it is worth it for the experience.

Q: Tells what you did so far to prepare for this year’s RGVLS competition? 

A: I walked my heifer everyday for exercise and went to many prospect shows for practice.

Q: What is the weirdest, or funniest thing your animal as ever done while you have been raising it? 

A: My heifer farts every time she stretches 

Q: What is your go to food or snack at RGVLS? 

A: My go to favorite food would have to be a turkey leg

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: My favorite movie is the longest ride

Q: What is your favorite game or carnival ride at RGVLS?

A: My favorite carnival ride is the fireball.
