The Mercedes Enterprise caught up with Sophomore Shooting Guard Randi Lara to ask her about the basketball season and her game. Here’s what she had to say in the Meet the Tigers Q&A:
Who’s the greatest basketball player of all time?
Michael Jordan
When did you first know you loved to play basketball?
When I was 6-year’s-old I started to play basketball.
Who do you model your basketball game from?
My Dad.
What is your signature basketball move?
Between the legs, around the back dribble and shot.
What do you do to get ready for game time?
Shoot way before game time, listen to music to stay focus, get hyped.
Who has helped you get to the level you are at in basketball?
My mom, Coach Rivas, Coach Mata, Tony, Coach Marquez, Coach Ramirez, Coach Flores, Coach Diaz, are some that helped along the way, as well as my teammates pushing me to be successful.
What does it mean to you to be on the varsity team?
It’s a dream come true.
What is your main goal for the basketball season?
My main goal is to step up and play my game and do what I got to do .
What is your favorite memory as a basketball player on the varsity?
Sinking a three pointer against a senior off a design play made for me when I was a freshman to reach the playoffs.
What is one of your goals for after high
school?
One of my goals is to earn a scholarship to play basketball, study to become a dentist or come back to Mercedes to coach basketball.

Norte Dame, Texas at Austin, Oklahoma University
