Q: What club are you a member of?

A: Santa Maria FFA

Q: What will you be presenting at RGVLS?

A: 2 breeding hogs, 1 market hog, 1 market lamb.

Q: What is your animal’s name and breed?

A: Peggy is my Duroc, Gorda is my Berk, Sonny for my Dark Cross and CeeDee is my Southdown Lamb.

Q: Why do you like presenting at RGVLS?

A: I like presenting at the RGVLS because I love showing animals and I get to show all of my hard work and dedication and plus I get to it with my friends. 

Q: Is this your first time presenting at RGVLS?

A: No, I started showing pigs at the RGVLS since 2014 as a peewee for showmanship with my sister’s pig. But I’ve been presenting my own since 2016.

Q: What is your best memory of RGVLS over the years?

A: My best memory has been winning my class last year and making it to the breed champion drive in both market and breeding shows. 

Q: Have you been successful at RGVLS before, or what is your goal for this years competition?

A: Yes, overall I’ve been successful making sale  every year with my pigs and also with my shop projects. But I do have a goal for this year and that is getting Grand Champion Market Hog and also winning Showmanship. 

Q: How much work does it take to prepare and work with your animal?

A: It takes a lot of hard work, and dedication to prepare my animals for the RGVLS. I start preparing since the first day I get my animals. I spend numerous hours a week walking my pigs making sure they look their best and try to keep them healthy. I don’t start preparing for the RGVLS right before the show but it take me months of preparation. Every day after my cross country, volleyball and track practices I still go home and work with my animals.
