Waiting game: H-E-B adapts store hours and operations to meet customer needs
By RAUL GARCIA JR | The Mercedes Enterprise
Hundreds endure waiting in long lines for hours before H-E-B opens in Mercedes and across the Valley every morning.
Many arrive one to two hours early for first dibs on restocked shelves. The Mercedes store currently only allows twenty shoppers in the store at a time.
The demand for food and supplies has left many people in despair and aisles in the store without inventory on its shelves.
To help ease the situation the Soul Fire Revival Center sent volunteers to gather with the shoppers as they wait in line to offer them prayer in the time of need.
“We are honoring the city and the governor and not gathering,” Joshua Reyes, Soul Fire Revival Center pastor said. “We are here to offer prayer and trying to bring peace to those in need.”
To better serve customers and increase product availability, all H-E-B stores have been closing at 8 p.m. since Sunday, March 15, and opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. until further notice.
Shelves are restocked around the clock, and much of the restocking and replenishment happens overnight when our stores are closed. The temporary change in store hours gives time to for employees to work diligently overnight to better stock the shelves.
Thank you Father God for allowing HEB to have inspirational prayers in time of need. Time to repent and ask the Lord for forgiveness, to end this evil virus. Thank you Soul Fire, Thank You Pastor Joshua Reyes. Blessings to all. Keep safe. Thank you Mercedes HEB. May you all be blessed.
