SEN. LUCIO HOSTS COVID-19 TELEPHONE TOWN HALL

Leading Public Health & Medical Professionals Join to Answer Public Questions 

Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., (D-Brownsville) will host a Telephone Town Hall for residents of South Texas to ask questions of leading public health and medical professionals on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The first-of-its-kind Telephone Town Hall for South Texas is scheduled for: 

Friday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. 

“This is an excellent opportunity for our South Texas constituents to have their questions answered directly by state and local public health and medical experts working to stop the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our communities,” said Sen. Lucio. 

Leading the call: 

• Dr. John Hellerstedt, Commissioner of Texas Department of State Health Services Joined by local experts: 

• Dr. James Castillo II, Cameron County Health Authority; 

• Ms. Esmeralda Guajardo, Health Administrator at Cameron County Public Health; 

• Dr. Joseph McCormick, Epidemiologist at UTHealth School of Public Health Brownsville; & 

• Dr. Linda Villarreal, President-Elect of the Texas Medical Association. 

Labor Commissioner Julian Alvarez III of the Texas Workforce Commission will be a special guest to respond to employment-related questions.
